The Tamins’ did a great service for the local subterranean termite community by leaving their wooden gate unprotected. However, the time for generosity was over.
We scraped the termite tubes off of the support posts, and then set about determining which parts of the double swing gate they’d gotten into. The bottom right frame plank was slightly chewed, and the softer wood of the two slats at the corner was heavily perforated. We had to remove the leaf entirely and replace the pieces in question before reinstalling it, with some fresh anti-termite treatment.
